Wall of Tears
A 47-foot granite wall displaying the names of 301 fallen heroes from Clare, Gladwin, Isabella, and Midland counties, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Veterans Freedom Park was created to honor the sacrifices of United States service members and to educate our community about the cost of freedom, yesterday and today.
Veterans Freedom Park is located in the heart of Harrison, Michigan, at 200 W. Main Street, across from the Clare County Courthouse on Harrison Community Schools property. The park was envisioned as a central place in Mid-Michigan where people could pause, reflect, and say “thank you” to those who served.
The park features a pentagon-shaped layout representing the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, with a walking trail and areas dedicated to different eras of military service. The design brings together education, remembrance, and a quiet, respectful environment that invites visitors to learn more about our nation’s military history.
Since its dedication, Veterans Freedom Park has grown through generous donations, brick paver campaigns, and annual fundraising events like the Freedom 5K Run/Walk and the Golf Outing. The park is maintained entirely through community giving and volunteer support.
Our mission is to create a place “like no other” where visitors can remember, honor, and reflect on the sacrifices of service members, while educating students and the public about past, present, and future conflicts.
